Uri and his crew made for a bucket list experience at the final stage of the 2023 Giro d’Italia. Originally was just looking for a finish line VIP experience, but ended up riding the day’s stage with their group before the pros raced. The finish line VIP experience exceeded all my expectations. Being right there to see the legendary Mark Cavendish take the win in Rome was amazing! The only regret I have is that I didn’t do the full week. Next time for sure and I will definitely be booking another trip again.

The staff, from Uri to the four outstanding members of the team that cared for us, Jack, Pete, Michael and Sarah, were just terrific to work with and be with in the case of the four, who really gave their all for us, showed interest in us, individually, and became good friends. We miss them but will not forget the trip to Lofoten and the essential role they played in making it such a success.

I really enjoyed my grand tour project experience. Easily the best group I’ve ever ridden with and I would love to join in on a ride in some other far out part of the world.

The tour was amazing from the initial planning to our final goodbyes. The routes, accommodations and bike rentals were perfect. Our guides, Yvette and Jacqui were outstanding. I wanted to tell you how wonderful your team was on what I am calling our century tour because if you add the ages of our eldest, 88 and our youngest, 12 you get 100! I hazard a guess that we might be a kind of unusual group for you all in terms of the diversity of bike interest, fitness level and familiarity and yet it all worked and you were able to accommodate a 13 year old who rode at the front in Turbo and a 12 year old who never took it out of Eco. Two teenagers who had not biked much before got to test their strength and caught the bike bug which is such a win. Timid riders grew more confident. Strong riders got to test themselves. And most importantly the 88 year old rode every day except the last.
You found such delightful spots for us to eat not an easy feat given the different kms and speeds at which we rode and also who can accommodate 17 for lunch? And you designed great routes and even a triathlon so that we could enjoy a special sauna.
The Lofotens were spectacular and it was so great to someone from your team photographing instead of us.
ALL TOGETHER UNFORGETTABLE.

We had heard of and seen GTP on the road many times, but our plans somehow always clashed with their riding schedule. This year was different. We still had some rest holidays to spend and, since we had never been in Sicily, the choice was made. Sicily! We had some ideas about this island, and these were not the best, to be honest. We were proven totally wrong. GTP made our cycling holiday in Sicily a unique experience. The daily stages were optimal to enjoy the ride, countryside and culture without any stress. My ‘Sicily photo album’ filled fast!
We would stay in fantastic high standard hotels, did ride on very quiet roads on finest tarmacs and got to see the overwhelming and most stunning cultural diversity of this island. The icing on the cake were the two tour guides who did an outstanding job. Pierpaolo Ficara, THE local legend, shared his wide knowledge of Sicily’s history and took the time to show us numerous places explaining background and told us some funny anecdotes. Marco Benfatto in the support car made sure we felt looked after like Pro-riders, just better.
GTP delivered far and beyond our expectations from the welcoming at the airport to the last drink when we had to say ‘goodbye’. We got the best ‘Taste of Sicily’ and it made appetite for more in 2023!

Two things I appreciated of the guides (Alex, Elena, Davide and Pierpaolo) was 1. the many text messages keeping us posted on meeting-up times, dinner, etc. – this was much better than other tours. 2. Flexibility. Best example: on the last day we all stopped for coffee in Vibo Valenta. The plan was then to finish the day with lunch in Pizzo where the group would split up into two, get in the two vans, with those of us ending the tour shuttling to Lamezia Terme. Instead, after talking it over – riders and guides – we all decided to skip having lunch in Pizzo, bike another 30-35K up the road and see the Giro peleton passing through one last time. Then we biked another 12K up to Lamezia Terme for a late meal in a great little restaurant. (It was the right decision in the end. If we’d stuck with the original plan, we’d have ridden a somewhat disappointingly short day, missed seeing the Giro one last time and missed the restaurant in Lamezia Terme.)

We would like to thank all Grand Tours Team as everybody was very helpful, tour was planned perfectly and staff was very flexible and adaptive with our needs during the tour. We were more than happy to having you as our tour organisers and we already recommended you and gave positive feedback to our friends in Lithuania. Definitely we will join Grand Tours in the future!

It was a week full of unforgettable memories. The tour can be improved, but there’s not much needed to make it incredible: 2 or 3 route changes (see above) and it will be perfect!

“After the pandemic, I had high expectations for this tour but every one of them was exceeded. The entire team, led by Uri was excellent and shared a genuine passion for cycling, the Giro and also for customer service. Even more demanding guests that I met were managed so professionally and were very happy. “Totally underestimated riding the same day of the Giro. Wasn’t quite sure what to expect there, but what a treat! Riding on closed roads, under the banners, through manic crowds… it’s a special feeling for sure. And to top it off, just “bumping” into pros like Cadel Evans and Ryder Hesjedal, and then riding alongside and striking up a conversation; that sure doesn’t happen on your normal Saturday morning ride.”
