**2024 tour information available after TDF Official presentation** After a great deal of debate and discussion, we think we have designed an amazing Week 2 of France’s Grand Boucle, through the French Alps and into Occitanie. A mixture of summer alpine and dry hot Mediterranean countryside. We have cherry picked the beautiful parts of the race allowing you to experience the race but also to fall in love with the different landscapes and regions of France.

Each day you will ride portions of the routes - flats, hilly and mountains. You will have opportunities to watch departures; claim prime positions on mountain climbs to watch the riders and teams compete with each other and battle exhaustion; and of course chances to cheer on the pros as they cross the stage finishes. Sometimes we stay at a choice hotel at the start or finish, and other times we must transfer across the countryside to our accommodation ...like the pro teams.

Our routes, ON THE DAY of the race, will allow you to enjoy the atmosphere of this great race as people line the routes in nationalistic colour coded groups claiming corners to cheer on their country or teams; where local inhabitants and businesses pull out all stops to decorate their homes and towns in yellow, and poka dots; and where you will ride with umpteen thousands of cyclists over the course of the week.

It is a spectacle not to be missed!

Please note - Grand Tours Project is not an "Official Tour Operator" of the Tour de France. You can find these Official Tour Operators on the TDF website.

  • DAy 2 - Tuesday 12 July

Morzine - Thonon les Bains - Bellevaux - Megevette

    60km / 660m

We have an early start with a transfer to Morzine. We aim to start as close as possible to the departure and then ride the race route through the Alps to views of the expansive Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) and down to Thonon-les-Bains.

A quick coffee stop and then we turn back into the foothills of the alps to Bellevaux. Here we will picnic and wait for the racers to pass by before riding down to Megevette and then transferring to Annecy.

If you haven’t already, we recommend wandering through old Annecy.

    Dinner in Annecy.

  • Day 3 - Wednesday 13 July

Annecy - Albertville - Lacets de Montvernier

    60km / 525m or 107km / 730m

Today is quite possibly the most beautiful day of this week!

We’ll start early and ride from our hotel beside Lac d’Annecy to Albertville. For those who wish, we can also transfer you to Albertville.

A quick coffee and then we are racing to find our GTP tent on the sinuous and stunning Les Lacets de Montvernier. This is the place to watch the riders stream up the climb. After they have passed, you can follow the route around and down to La-Tour-en-Maurienne. Our van will transport you to our hotel in Grenoble.

  • Day 4 - Thursday 14 July

    ALPE D'HUEZ FULL IMERSE

    35km / 1,100m or 66km / 1,670m

Two options today. First option - We’ll transfer you to Le Bourg d’Oisans and you attempt to emulate the great Marco Pantini who holds the record for the fastest ascent with 36’50” from the 1995 Tour de France! Once at the top, you can carefully weave your way back to our GTP tent.

Option 2, start early and ride from Grenoble to Alpe d’Huez. Depending on your arrival you can ride to the finish or stop and watch the pros race by us.

We will ensure our tent is on one of the more colourful and passionate corners and where you are fully immersed in the party atmosphere.

After the pros have finished, we’ll carefully weave our way down to our van and transfer back to Grenoble.

  • Day 5 - Friday 15 July

Grenoble - Col de Parmenie - Valence

    107km / 645m

Today you can sleep in (all relative of course!).

We start our ride from the hotel and head to Col de Parmenie and wait for the Stage 13 teams to stream up and over this small col. We’ll attempt to catch them heading south before they turn off towards Saint-Etienne.

We will continue south to Valence on the edge of the mighty Rhone, and our hotel.

  • Day 6 - Saturday 16 July

    Coucouron - Mende

    70km / 990m

After breakfast, we’ll transfer to Coucouron near the Ardèche - Haute Loire border. From there we can ride through the rolling hills, down to Langogne for a quick coffee stop.

Soon enough we’ll find evidence of the race and rejoin the route. There is one final short sharp climb, Cote de la Croix Nueve - Monteé Jalabert, about 3.5 kilometres and an average of 9.5 % - enough to get the heart pumping! And here we wait for the racers to cross the Stage 14 finish.

We will have a long transfer to Castres.

  • Day 7 - Sunday 17 July

    Castres to CARCASSONNE

    75km / 640m

We’ll leave early in order to reach Carcassonne well before the pros. Starting from our hotel, we’ll ride towards Revel and join the route on the edge of Le Beau Lac du Parc Régional du Haut Languedoc and then head down into the magnificent fortified city of Carcassonne on the river Aude. The Grand Canal du Midi also passes through Carassonne.

We’ll book a spa to allow you to bath/shower and then we can have lunch and explore this beautiful town. We’ll regroup to watch the pros come in and then transfer to our hotel and dinner in Toulouse.

  • Day 8 - Monday 18 July

    Toulouse et Au Revoir

An amazing week has already passed. We hope that the experience tour has inspired you and you will rejoin us on future tours.

We’ll see you at breakfast, help you pack up and then take you to the Toulouse Airport for your onward journey. Bon voyage and happy riding.

If you are continuing with us for the Week 3 Experience Tour, relax and enjoy Toulouse.
