Today, we begin our Grand Depart Barcelona Experience with a thrilling welcome ride. We’ll get a taste of the Tour’s opening stages by riding the final 8 kilometres of the Stage 1 Team Time Trial before completing the iconic Stage 2 circuit on Montjuïc. This short but challenging ride gives you a chance to warm up and get a feel for the routes the pros will ride, all before we return to our hotel in central Barcelona.
Our second day of riding takes us out of the city and into the beautiful Catalan countryside. We’ll ride the challenging Collserola loop, which includes a memorable climb to Tibidabo, offering spectacular views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean. The route also takes us through the stunning vineyards of Catalonia, a region renowned for its Cava production. This ride provides the perfect mix of challenging climbs, rewarding descents, and breathtaking scenery before we return to central Barcelona for a well-deserved evening of relaxation and exploration.
We start the day with a short 25-minute transfer after breakfast, taking you to your departure point near Castelldefels. From here, we head south, immediately hitting the rolling, hilly terrain of the coastline. We tackle a beautiful, challenging loop towards and around Sitges, enjoying a final, punchy workout designed to reward you with incredible sea views. At Sitges, enjoy a well-earned lunch before transferring back to the hotel for a quick freshen-up.
The afternoon is reserved for the spectacle of the race! We head to the iconic Montjuïc area, the decisive, historic final sector of the day’s stage. Without the confines of hospitality, we join the passionate crowds and find a prime roadside position to watch the peloton thundering past. Feel the raw speed and energy as the riders battle for position on the final run-in—it’s a truly visceral Grand Tour experience.
Today, you’ll have the ultimate chance to experience a Tour de France stage for yourself. After an early breakfast, our guides will transfer you to Viladecans on the Stage 2 race route. From there, you will ride the final 60 odd kilometres, following the scenic coastal roads before the stage enters its fast-paced, hilly circuit. Upon completing your ride, you will have the unique opportunity to ride across the official Tour de France Arrivée and step onto the winner’s podium for memento photos. After this unforgettable moment, change and enter the exclusive ‘Espace Izoard’ VIP area, where you’ll watch from a prime location as the pros race for victory on Montjuïc hill, crossing the very same finish line you did earlier. You’ll be right at the heart of the action, experiencing the grand finale of a Tour stage with an unforgettable view.
We start the morning with a refreshing final spin before breakfast, rolling along the picturesque seafront. This gentle outing is the perfect way to spin the legs out and soak up the coastal views before returning to the hotel for a well-deserved shower and a Catalan breakfast.
After breakfast the team will transfer you to Granollers, the host city for the day’s Grand Départ. Here, you are granted exclusive VIP access to the start area. Witness the increasingly intense energy of the support crews and riders preparing, and the excitement as the teams sign on, culminating in the professional peloton departing for its journey out of Spain and to Les Angles, France.
After enjoying the atmosphere and lunch in Granollers, you will be transferred back to Barcelona. The afternoon is yours to enjoy free time – explore Gaudí’s masterpieces, stroll the bustling Gothic Quarter, or simply relax. We will then reconvene for a special final dinner, raising a glass to the epic rides, the electrifying atmosphere, and the memories forged during our Grand Tours Project experience.
After enjoying a final breakfast, the team will assist you with any last-minute packing and checking out. While the professional peloton will begin Stage 4 of the Tour de France from Carcassonne, your focus will be on your journey home. Our team will provide a transfer to the nearest airport, ensuring you have a smooth and comfortable journey as you depart with memories of an unforgettable week in Catalonia.
