Tour de France is back in the French Pyrenees after 10 stages in northern and central France. And it is in the Pyrenees that the race becomes intense and we discover the strengths and weaknesses of the Tour de France teams and their star riders. Only 3 days in the mountains and one of those a lung busting ITT climb to Peyragudes; the other days are massive with climbs over Soulor, Hautacam, Tourmalet, Aspin, Peyrsourde and Luchon-Superbagneres; finishing Week 2 with a hilly route into the Montagne Noire into beautiful Carcassonne. YOU will ride the best portions of the climbs featured in the 2025 Tour de France!
This tour is designed to offer you the ultimate Grand Tour experience. We will witness the pros fight for the Maillot Jaune, enjoy some of the best riding in France and enjoy the craziness of fans cheering! There will be multiple opportunities to immerse yourself in the race at the Official VIP areas at the start and finishes; but also to fall in love with France – its mountainous landscapes and the ancient towns, to practise your French with locals and understand their culture, to devour the local cuisine and wines …to get a little closer to real France. The Tour de France is the pinnacle of the three Grand Tours and the Pyrenees Escape will deliver an amazing experience.
Our tour is designed for those who wish to have a more relaxed ride of 60-120 km per day, and for non-riding partners.
Join us for a cycling holiday of a lifetime and what the pros consider as the pinnacle of cycle racing – ‘the most beautiful and spectacular race in the world’.

The GTP Team will meet you at Toulouse Airport and then transport you to your lovely hotel in Lourdes. Our team will help you reassemble your bike or finesse the fitting of your rental bike and providing there is time, setting out on a Welcome Ride to stretch the legs and test the bikes. Back at the hotel the team will discuss the plan and logistics for the next few days over an apero, followed by your first dinner in the Pyrenees.
Two options today – ride from Lourdes to the base of Hautacam and ride the route to the summit and finish; or a quick transfer to Asson and follow the last 75 km of the route to the summit, cross the official TDF Arrivée, mount the TDF winners Podium AND then watch the pros arrive over the finish from the VIP Hospitality Lounge at prime location on Hautacam. When everything has calmed down, you can ride back to the hotel (all downhill) or opt for a transfer.
Preparation for the ITT climb means the road will be closed. BUT never fear, the team have designed a route that will take you from Lourdes and on the Tourmalet climb to the summit – fans will already have camped out along the route in anticipation of Stage 14 and you experience some of the cheering. From Luz-Saint-Sauveur, the climb is 20 km and 1400 m of ascent. The steepest pitch is about 14% but on average the climb is about 7.5%. A challenge but well worth it. Once you finish the ride, our team will transfer you Loudenvielle to access the VIP Hospitality Village & Team Paddock to watch the individual riders ride their best on Stage 13 ITT Loudenvielle – Peyragudes. You will then be transferred back to your hotel.
The racers will be climbing almost 5,000 m today – Tourmalet, Aspin, Peyresourde and finally Luchon Superbagnères. You have already climbed Tourmalet so the team have designed a route that bags 2 more cols from this stage. First up, from either Lourdes or Sainte-Marie-de-Campan you will summit Col d’Aspin (1,489 m) before descending to Arreau. After a short break, start the ascent to Peyresourde (1,569 m) – 20 km with an easy gradient before it steepens towards the col. The team will find an optimal place for you to watch the pros climbing and past you. When the crowds disperse, the team will gather you up and transfer you to your new hotel in Toulouse.
Final day of our Pyrenees Escape and actually in the south western part of the Massif Central – Montagne Noire – with views across the Carcassonne Aude valley to the Pyrenees. The race route goes through Revel and this is where you will start your ride into this beautiful mountain range which was also home to the Cathars until they were wiped out by the Catholic Church. You will finish beneath the walls of the imposing and famous mediaeval Carcassonne and access the Relais Etape Special VIP Hospitality to watch the race finish Week 2. Once the race is finished and the roads opened, the GTP team transfer you to Toulouse finalise arrangements for your airport transfers the next day and bid farewell.
We recommend that you book an afternoon flight to allow you a sleep in, a leisurely continental breakfast and perhaps last minute shopping in Toulouse. The GTP Team will have made arrangements for your hotel airport shuttles.
If the Grand Tours Project Tour de France Week 2 Pyrenees Escape ticks your boxes – up to 5 mountain climbs, riding on portions of the official race route with fans cheering you on, access to TDF VIP hospitality areas at the stage starts and finishes, immersed with crowds to feel the passion, dining and quaffing French cuisine, wines and beers, enjoying the camaraderie of friends family or new friends – then contact us here.
