Join us as we Ride Every Kilometre of the Week 2 of the 107th Giro d'Italia. Grand Tours Project’s signature tour, Ride Every Kilometre, promises 6 full stages of riding. In 2024 this means from the Tyrrhenian Sea, across the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea; then north along the coast before heading inland through the intensive agricultural plains of Lombardy, the glamorous lake Garda and into the mountains (via Switzerland) finishing at Livigno. The Giro d’Italia 2024 is ready for an exciting second week. Are you excited? We are!
“There is nothing quite like riding on the full route of the Giro d'Italia, with thousands of supporters on the road cheering us on and the peloton only an hour or two behind us.” Keith Tuffley, Founder of Grand Tours Project and the mind behind the "Ride Every Kilometre" concept.
We're offering the opportunity for fit amateur cyclists to Ride Every Kilometre of Stages 10 - 15, on the same day as the race ahead of the pros. We'll be riding through some beautiful and spectacular regions of Italy with a VIP Finish and Podium access along the route.
957 kilometres and 13,250 metres ascent, the second week of the Giro d’Italia entails 6 stages from Campania all the way to the border of Switzerland. Stage 14 offers a break with a short but seriously fast ITT near Lago di Garda . AND the next day the penultimate stage crosses from beautiful Lake Garda over several passes (via Switzerland) to Livigno.
The Grand Tours Project Giro d’Italia Ride Every Kilometre is a journey of discovery and challenges.
Ride. Every. Kilometre. of each stage in the morning ahead of the professional racers. Yes really. Grand Tours Project has successfully run these tours for several years and the 105th Giro d'Italia comprised 17 guests who accepted this challenge.
Are you ready to Ride Every Kilometre of Week 2? If you think this is for you, keep reading and be inspired.
And if this is not enough of a challenge, we offer guests the opportunity to complete the entire Giro d’Italia. If this is for you, contact us for further details. Riding on the race course just a few hours before the pros makes this an unforgettable experience.
If riding every kilometre of 6 stages sounds a bit much, or if you haven't the time for a full week off, then you may wish to join for just 3 stages in the mountains. Contact us if this interests you.
We are also offering a more relaxed option involving 60-100km of riding each day - our Giro "Experience" tours.

ARRIVAL DAY - BENVENUTO in Italia!
25 km | 500 m
We will meet you at Naples Airport and transfer you to your hotel. Our team will help you to check in and unpack your bike or set up your rental bike. After a light lunch or snack, we’ll test ride the bikes on the coastal roads and return. Back at our hotel, we can adjust the bikes, and then explore the surrounding area before dinner and the tour briefing.
Stage 10 - Pompeii - Cusano Mutri (Bocca della Selva)
141 km | 2,900 m
An early rise and breakfast and starting in the city of Pompeii, skirting the volcano that destroyed the city. Heading north you will ride into national parks and gather elevation along the way. The final climb takes you through tough stony ground - good enough for pastures for goats and maybe sheep and a lovely place for tourism activities. At 1,395 m you will find the finish and relax after your first day. Then the reward, we will cross the finish line, jump into the podium and watch the race from the VIP Zone! When everyone is regrouped the team will transfer you to your next hotel.
STAGE 11 - FOIANO DI VALFORTORE - FRANCAVILLA AL MARE
218 km | 2,500 m
This day seems flattish but the figures say otherwise. No big mountain climbs but obviously very hilly before reaching the Adriatic coast. An early start and ride through the lower parts of the eastern Apennines and into rolling roads and ridges through farmland, forests and villages. Soon enough the flat coastal plain comes into view and then you will head north along the coast to finish in Francavilla al Mare - a long day in the saddle. The van will be waiting nearby to transfer you to your hotel.
STAGE 12 - MARTINSICURO - FANO
183 km | 2,250 m
After breakfast, heads down and power along the 50 km very flat coastal route. At Civitanova Marche the route veers inland and some ‘relief’ from the flat terrain - very hilly and where all the elevation is gained. Mainly fields of crops and pink decked villages, with countryside views along the ridges. Soon enough you are back on the Adriatic coast and the finish in Fano.
STAGE 13 - RICCIONE - CENTO
178 km | 150 m
The elevation gain says it all - supremely flat! Crops, orchards, power lines and long straight roads. This a tour through Emilia Romagna, one of the richest regions in Italy - home to manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and other major industries; a major producer of various crops and intensive animal husbandry - Emilia Romagna is a world famous gastronomic region for good reason! Like Parma ham, Bolognese, Parmesan, Modena balsamic vinegar, Lampusca, Barilla pastas the list is huge. After a long day, Cento appears. Also known as Little Bologna and well worth wandering if you have the energy and time. A two hour transfer to Castiglione delle Stiviere.
STAGE 14 - ITT CASTIGLIONE DELLE STIVIERE - DESENZANO DEL GARDA
25.8 km | 100 m
Just in time, a day to relax a bit. Ride the ITT from Castiglione delle Stiviere to the very beautiful Lago di Garda. Make sure to have your Strava recording so you can compare your times against the pros. At the finish you can change and then enter the Giro VIP Finish zone to immerse yourself in the festive Giro ambiance - enjoy the Italian hospitality, watch the screens and watch your favorite riders cross over the line. As the last of the fastest riders arrive, the atmosphere will intensify as the crowds roar their support. After the celebrations, the team will take you to your hotel further around on the shores of Lago di Garda.
STAGE 15 - MANERBA DEL GARDA - LIVIGNO (MOTTOLINO)
212 km | 5,250 m
Stage 15 is the Tappone, the equivalent to France’s Queen Stage. A whopping 5,250 metres of climbing over epic mountain passes. Starting from stunning Manerba del Garda the route takes you to Lago d'Idro and then the real climbing commences. After 30 odd kilometres and 1,600 metres of climbing, you will reach Crocedomini (1,892 m) followed by a 20 km switchback descent to Breno. Passo dell’Aprica is a gentle climb in comparison. Almost 2,000 m and 50 km later, via Switzerland, you will reach Passo Forcola di Livigno (2,315 m). Relief and downhill to Livigno (1,819 m). The team will gather you up and take you to your hotel to celebrate your week on the Giro route.
DEPARTURE - ARRIVEDERCI!
Do not book an early flight! We recommend a sleep in and a leisurely breakfast after a week of riding the Giro. There is a long transfer to the airport so we recommend an afternoon flight.
We hope that Week 2 Ride Every Kilometre will meet your expectations.
We will help with checking out and transfer you to the airport for your return home or onward journey elsewhere.
Stay safe on the roads and hopefully see you soon.
