Grand Tours Project

Oct / 29 / 2021

The world's premier bike race has been announced and to say we are excited is an understatement - The Grand Boucle is coming through our home town!

Also, this year, Les Femmes de France are racing in 2022. It has been over 10 years since there has been a prestigious French classic race for women and well overdue. Eight days of intense racing across northern France and Grand Tours Project invites you to join us on our first ever French women's racing event.

For us, it is a gift, a gigantic opportunity and a very special way to return to the Grand Tours... and what a way! To receive the most prestigious and important race of all, in Switzerland, and crossing through our home roads is just THE DREAM. We are committed to celebrating the culture of cycling and this time we want to have a great party with our fellow cyclists.

The origins of the Grand Tours Project go back to 2009 when Keith Tuffley, the owner and founder of Grand Tours Project, went with his family to watch the Tour de France pass through his commune in Ollon, Switzerland. He was so inspired, he went home, looked at the route, grabbed his bike, said goodbye to his wife and kids, and set out on a journey that led to bigger challenges each year, and would finally become the Grand Tours Project.

That first year, he rode stages 16 and 17 of the 2009 edition of the Tour de France, on the same day as the pros, just hours before them. And while it seemed crazy riding two stages, that wasn’t enough. Keith returned home and started planning to ride an entire Grand Tour in 2010. Check out the video here.

Subsequently, his challenges progressed to riding all three of the Grand Tours in 2013, on the same day as the professionals , a few hours ahead of them. In 2014, Grand Tours Project was born.

Seven years later, after more than 400,000m of elevation, untold kilometres of Experience and Ride Every Kilometre tours, thousands of guests, the trials and tribulations of the last couple of seasons, we are ready to welcome the premier cycle race to our home ground.

As cyclists living here, the Grand Tours Project guides are in the best position to show you our home and invite you to join us in Villars, to allow us to guide you along the race route and show you our many destinations and circuits. Epic cycling events, before, during and after the race.

And don't forget that non cycling family and friends are welcome too - we can offer many non cycling alternatives that showcase our region of Switzerland.
