I live in Bergamo with my wife Selene Colombi, also a former pro cyclist, and our two children, Olivia (2) and Leonardo (9). I’ve been cycling since I was 6 and raced professionally for 8 years, including multiple appearances in the Vuelta a España and Giro d’Italia, earning two victories—one in the Vuelta. I rode for top teams alongside champions like Menchov, Sastre, Nibali, Viviani, and Sagan, and occasionally raced as a team leader. I retired when Leonardo was born to spend more time at home. I still ride and race for fun, and I now run the DR ACADEMY, helping amateur cyclists train like pros. In my free time, I enjoy playing with my kids, downhill biking with my wife, and I also have a motorbike so I can climb hills without getting tired!
