Quelle Surprise! The Grand Tour of France, THE premier cycling event of the 2024 UCI calendar is in Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, Lombardy and Piedmont, Italy! Not only an epic and iconic route, but one that starts and visits the homes of the former legendary Italian cyclists - Bartali, Pantani and Coppi. Italy’s Giro d’Italia is one of our favourite events and France’s Grand Tour is riding through or finishing in some of the same towns and cities.

The Grand Depart of the 111th edition of the World's premier cycle race in France, starts in Florence, Italy. What a beautiful place to start - beautiful mediaeval Florence, summer Tuscan riding, food and wine, and of course passionate cycling fans. You too can ride on Le Tour’s race routes from Florence, ride into Bologna and weave through the hills and vineyards of the Asti-Alba Piemonte region finishing the Grand Depart in Turin. But on this tour, there’s more! The French Alps - Sestrieres, Montgenevre, Lautaret and Galibier on the Stage 4 race route and then a detour to tackle that most iconic climb, Alpe d’Huez.

The Grand Tours Project Grand Depart and Alps Explorer provides support and guidance along the best parts of the Grand Depart and Stage 4 routes, including some of the climbs and descents plus detours to experience wine tastings and regional cuisine; monuments and memorials, hand picked comfortable and charming accommodation; and most importantly, watching the race along with passionate Italian fans…but decked out in yellow rather than Giro d’Italia pink! In the Alps and back on French soil to experience the epic climbs that regularly feature in this annual race.

Are you ready to join us and experience France’s Grand Depart in Italy plus be challenged in the French Alps?
