Week 1 of the Giro d’Italia and the race heads south. Fingers crossed the weather is warm and sunny because the route skirts the Ligurian coast before heading into the interior from lovely Lucca in Tuscany. Onto the wild and remote Apennines and the first Individual Time Trial before a huge climb through the mountains in the Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso. The final stage for Week 1 is a return to magnificent Napoli for the third time in a row.

"This experience of riding on the same course as the pros, and just a few hours ahead of them, is unique in the sporting world. The atmosphere is simply incredible." Keith Tuffley, Founder - Grand Tours Project.

Week 1 offers a full range of riding experience - flats, hills and coastal rides, plus a big mountainous climbing experience. On Stage 6 you will ride portions of the race, cross the finish line and mount the winners’ podium in Naples, gain access to the VIP zone, plus experience the unadulterated passion Italians and Giro fans have for their teams.

Finally, a visit to southern Italy is not complete without cafe stops and restaurants allowing us to indulge and savour the delights of delicious Mediterranean cuisine.

As an "Official PremiumTour Operator", we will have our support vehicle with us the whole distance. Riding on the race route just a few hours before the pros makes this an unforgettable experience. Check out this story from one of our 2016 guests to be convinced!

The second mountain stage of the Giro. Are you ready? There are three options - for those who want a challenge the team will drop you at Posta where you will follow the race route; for those who want a less challenging mountain climb, we suggest starting from Marana; and a final option, descending from Pizzoli and then riding the final climb to the ski resort, Prati di Tivo. The final climb is about 14 km and has an average gradient of about 7 percent. Par for the course, stunning landscapes, rural villages and a finish at 1,452 m, that's over 1,000 metres of climbing.
